The Global Automotive Forum is quickly becoming one of the ‘must attend’ events in the Chinese automotive calendar behind the car shows, the two day event is now entering its third year of operation and is improving year after year. This years forum once again brings international auto industry leaders together in Chengdu, significant speakers have been added to the speakers list this year, with senior leaders from China’s leading automotive companies as well as international leaders in attendance. Governmental departments from Chinese and overseas governments will also be represented at the forum.

A new report from Automotive News says that Coda is repairing the “minor” damage to those parts and that Coda’s dealership in Los Angeles should be getting ten EVs to sell by the middle of this week
The Beijing Auto Show had two themes, Dragons and SUV’s, but one other issue was stretched into the growing array of L cars. Lengthened cars have become the norm in China, even humble Citroen Elysee gained an extra 10cm in its B-Pillar to allow for extra rear leg room. Audi’s come in L form as standard, the A6L set the precedent, the A4L gained the sales volume to make it a success.
The Chinese media are playing a guessing game over the Encore, they know its coming, but they don’t know if the road going versions currently camo’d up and out on China roads are Chinese market models or American market models. They also seem to think that the Chinese version will be carrying the same engines as the US version, which is headlined by a 1.4T. The Chinese market version is expected to be very different, cloth seats won’t be available on any model but the super basic one where a manual will likely be found, the top models will be 1.8L and possibly 2.0L naturally aspirated models with the 1.6T engine from the Buick Excelle and Chevrolet Cruze taking the flagship model.
